Genetics is the study of inheritance and of
the units of inheritance known a a GENE.
The founder of genetics was Austrian
biologist Gregor Mendel, whose experiments
with plants, such as peas, showed that
inheritance takes place by means of discrete
`particles', which later came to be called
genes.
